In this Letter, a simple and passively mode-locking Yb-doped all fiber laser using a nonlinear polarization rotation technique operating under dissipative soliton (DS) or dissipative soliton resonance (DSR) conditions is proposed. Furthermore, using a combination of a bandpass filter and a Loyt filter, tunable single-wavelength or dual-wavelength operation under two different conditions is realized, respectively. The tunable single-wavelength DS laser has a 5 nm tuning range from 1029 to 1034 nm with a pulse width of 110 ps. The tunable single-wavelength DSR operation laser has a range of 4 nm. In-depth research on the mechanism of the conversion between DS and DSR is carried out. Particularly, under dual-wavelength DSR operation, the obtained step-like pulses consist of two rectangular pulses with different energies. This work could help give a deeper insight into normal dispersion pulses.

基于啁啾光纤布拉格光栅(C-FBG)与半导体可饱和吸收镜(SESAM)相结合实现了光纤掺Yb3+线型锁模激光器。采用976 nm半导体激光器,以高掺杂浓度的掺Yb3+光纤作为增益介质,以SESAM作一端的反射镜,以C-FBG引入大的负色散,并作为另一端反射镜,最终获得了稳定皮秒脉冲序列的输出。其中心波长为1045 nm,平均功率为12 mW,基频重复频率为17.07 MHz,脉宽约为3 ps。详细讨论了高阶锁模光脉冲的演化方式。该锁模光纤激光器可以完全自启动,可以长时间稳定工作,有望成为高功率超短脉冲激光器的种子源。

Abstract
We demonstrate a high-energy, low-repetition-rate, all-fiber, 1 064-nm Yb-doped fiber laser based on the master oscillator power amplifier structure. Pulse-pumping technology is used to suppress amplified spontaneous emission. A maximum output pulse energy of 5.97 mJ is obtained at 16-ns pulses with an M2 of 2.9.

以被动调Q的小型Nd:YAG/Cr4+:YAG激光器为种子光源,以后向抽运的掺镱双包层光纤为功率放大介质,经过一级光纤功率放大,获得了平均功率5.5 W,重复频率9 kHz的激光输出,脉冲宽度为575 ps,峰值功率达到1 MW。采用非临界相位匹配的LBO晶体,对该亚纳秒脉宽光纤放大器进行了单通倍频实验研究。当晶体温度为150.5 ℃、基频光功率为2.7 W时,获得了平均功率1.3 W、峰值功率250 kW的倍频绿光输出,倍频转换效率为48%。

以被动调Q的固体薄片激光器作为种子光源,以中心波长976 nm的半导体激光器为抽运源,通过端面抽运耦合,搭建了窄脉宽双包层掺镱光纤放大器。实验研究了前向、后向端面抽运方式对窄脉宽双包层掺镱光纤放大器的输出平均功率、激光光谱、脉冲宽度等特性的影响,并进行分析讨论。结果表明,采用后向抽运方式,窄脉宽双包层掺镱光纤放大器,获得了平均功率为9.3 W的放大激光输出,重复频率为10 kHz,脉冲宽度为450 ps,峰值功率大于2 MW。

Abstract
A pulsed master oscillator power amplifier system is constructed using a double-cladding polarized Yb-doped fiber and an all-fiber Q-switched narrow-linewidth pulsed laser used as seed laser. This system has a high repetition rate and provides a nanosecond pulsed laser with a narrow linewidth and linear polarization. Moreover, it generates amplified radiation with up to 14 W of average power, narrow linewidth (full-width at half-maximum is smaller than 0.12 nm), linear polarization at 1 080-nm wavelength, repetition rate of 51 kHz, and pulse duration of approximately 50 ns. Based on this pulsed amplified radiation, 3.5 W of green laser, with an optical-to-optical efficiency of 27.3%, is obtained via single-pass frequency doubling using a noncritical phase matching KTP crystal.

实现了一种单端光纤耦合的高重复频率、窄脉冲、窄线宽及高效率的主动声光调Q全光纤脉冲光纤激光器。该光纤激光器基于光纤光栅与平面镜组合而成的线性法布里珀罗(F-P)腔结构,采用激光二极管与(2+1)×1抽运耦合器形成后向抽运,并利用单端光纤耦合声光调制器(AOM)实现了全光纤化结构的脉冲掺镱双包层光纤激光器。调Q声光开关工作在一级方向,反向输出调Q脉冲,重复频率20~100 kHz可调。在重复频率50 kHz、抽运功率5.7 W下系统获得了输出激光功率2.64 W、单脉冲能量528 μJ、脉宽56 ns、峰值功率943 W的稳定的高效率、窄线宽的窄脉冲,中心波长在1080 nm左右,线宽为0.06 nm,光光转换效率高达46%。

采用脉冲调制的单模带尾纤输出的半导体激光器作为种子源,以掺镱光纤为增益介质,采用主振荡功率放大(MOPA)结构,实现了1030 nm全光纤脉冲激光放大。脉冲重复频率在50~100 kHz范围内可调,在重复频率50 kHz时,实现了脉冲宽度为6.53 ns,峰值功率为16.08 kW的脉冲输出,相应的斜率效率为69%,输出激光的中心波长在1029.49 nm。实验还研究了不同重复频率下输出激光脉冲的时域特性。该激光器的输出波长在激光雷达探测器的光谱响应范围内,可作为激光雷达发射光源。

研制了输出功率达17.3 W的单频保偏掺镱光纤放大器,并对其输出激光特性进行了实验研究。该光纤放大系统以Nd:罽VO4单频固态激光器为种子源,以保偏光纤为增益介质,通过二级光纤放大,获得了波长为1064 nm的单频线偏振激光输出,输出激光功率达17.3 W。功率放大级光纤放大器的斜率效率为62.8%,光光转换效率为57.6%,偏振消光比为24.3 dB。

A new method to obtain linear polarization operation by Brewster's angle-polished fiber end is demonstrated. By using the special polarization operation technique together with introducing a narrow-linewidth fiber grating into the laser cavity, a cladding-pumped linear polarization and single-transverse-mode (M2<1.1) Yb-doped fiber laser with narrow linewidth whose full-width at half-maximm (FWHM) is less than 0.2 nm, is obtained in a simple configuration. The output power is up to 10 W which is continuouswave output at 1085 nm, and the slope e±ciency is 63% with respect to the coupled pump power and 75% with respect to the absorbed pump power, respectively. The measured 21-dB polarization extinction ratio does not degrade with the output power. The simplicity of such an approach is highly beneficial for a number of applications, including the use of a fiber laser for the nonlinear wavelength conversion (especially for the intracavity frequency doubling) and for the coherent and spectral beam combination.
